Queeni Grace

QUEENI GRACE is a gospel-jazz artist and songwriter working at the intersection of contemporary jazz, faith and the wider Black diasporic musical tradition. Drawing on jazz improvisation, gospel, soul and R&B, her work brings Scripture and spiritual reflection into conversation with lived experience, exploring love, loss, belonging, resilience, healing, transformation and reclamation.

As an independent artist and songwriter, QUEENI GRACE leads the conceptual and creative direction of her work, from songwriting and artistic vision through to the development of each project. She works closely with musical director, pianist and co-producer Zachary Lindsay to translate that vision into musical form. Their collaboration brings together songwriting, musicianship, arrangement and production.

Her work moves between devotional and contemporary musical spaces. Explicitly Christian in its source, it engages with experiences and questions that reach across faith, culture and audience. Central to her artistic practice is a distinction between identity and cultural inheritance: her identity is rooted in Jesus Christ, while her African, Caribbean and British cultural inheritance provides a rich and evolving creative language.

Her projects include The Beloved and Christiform. Christiform explores Christian formation through jazz and is shaped by two interconnected acts of reclamation: the reclamation of true identity in Jesus Christ and a reconnection with an Igbo Nigerian cultural legacy from which she had been disconnected. Informed by the African American lineage of jazz, the project brings this recovered cultural inheritance into conversation with QUEENI GRACE’s wider African, Caribbean and British experience, drawing on African rhythmic influences alongside contemporary and improvisational jazz, gospel, soul and R&B.

Rather than treating heritage as an aesthetic addition, Christiform allows cultural reconnection to become part of the album’s musical and personal journey. Scripture, theology, memory, testimony and cultural inheritance meet within a body of work concerned with what it means to be formed, restored and reconnected while remaining unequivocally rooted in Christ.

QUEENI GRACE is a postgraduate of the London College of Music and a doctoral researcher in Music at one of London’s leading universities. She is also a social entrepreneur leading a nonprofit supporting women’s wellbeing.

Central to her artistic practice is the conviction that inspiration is received as much as it is made. Scripture, prayer, lived experience and theological reflection provide the foundations from which she develops narrative, melody, rhythm and sound.
